So... we got to the fair around four-thirty. They did not want me to bring in my glass water bottle. Mr Baldwin hid it in the grass. He casually informed me that "last time they came to see Weird Al they spent forever in the boring building with all the quilts and stuff". We looked at animals. I casually pulled out my map to find out where the quilts and stuff were. Somebody made noises, but we went off in search of it. We never did find it, but we did find the photography building and looked at some of the rides. I tried not to throw up watching people riding them.

I was surprised that the fair was really not very much larger than the Yakima fair. I couldn't believe there was no arts and crafts/food building or ag building or anything. The map was really unspecific about where things were, though. Oh well.

One of the games was a ring toss onto bottlenecks. The prize was an enormous stuffed tiger, either a snow tiger or an orange one. They were really beautiful - not like your typical carnival fare. *sniff* I'm such a lousy throw, though. I never would have won one anyway.

About seven-thirty we joined the thundering herd of humanity flocking to the Pavilion for Weird Al.

There was quite the crowd at the Pavilion last night.

So... he opened the concert with one of his polkaramas, the one that begins with the chicken dance. People were stomping and cheering before he even came out, and when he charged out with his accordion, it was absolutely uproarious. He followed that up with Canadian Idiot, complete with a nice shot of red and white streamers into the audience.

Then he sang a couple of songs I don't think I'd heard before.

Not sure what song this was:

Not sure what this song was, either:

This was "You're Pitiful". It was awesome. He had an accordion shirt on in between the ribs shirt and the Spongebob shirt, and he kicked his shoes off before he started taking off his pants. If you click through twice, you can see it's an animated .gif as he sheds his shirts.

Another song new to me, Wanna B Ur Lover. He came out into the audience on this one:

Not sure what this song was, either:

Then he did a medley of a bunch of really good songs... and this one I hadn't heard, In Love With the Skipper:

Constipated (okay, so I just had to have a shot with the scrunchie in his hair):

Ode to a Superhero, someone else holding his harmonica while he plays it:

Fake money shot at the crowd during "I'll Sue Ya":

Then we moved into the Star Wars section of the show with The Saga Begins, complete with jiving storm troopers and a Vader that is kinda hard to see in these pictures:

Ruben playing an interlude:

In the Star Wars section everyone got out their phones. We were cooler. We had the iPod Lighter Application, so we could wave a LIGHTER. Well, Dan did. Everyone was singing along and waving their arms... and camera flashes were going nuuuuuuuuts.

And then Yoda, of course:

Smells Like Nirvana was next. During the gargling part, he really did have a cup of water which he proceeded to toss out to the audience. They got wet and he was drooling the water all over. A very happy lady grabbed the cup. By the Sayonara part of the song he was on the floor flailing himself around like a graceful fish. No photos of that, since, clearly, my location was not the best from a photography angle:

Then the hip-hop section, with Amish Paradise:

And White and Nerdy, which opened with Weird Al rolling around stage on his Segway. The screens on the background gave us a glimpse of some Donny Osmond dance moves not used in the music video.

Someday I will have this hoodie.

During "Fat", he yelled "HO!" at the audience, who, of course, echoed him, and then this guy dressed like a - well, a ho, came out with a hoe in hand and waved it at everyone.

"Fat" was the last song, but he came back out and gave us the Cell Phone Song. It refers to part of an interview shown on the screens earlier (here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjJYywFNbuw) and this video is how it pretty much was last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TuS7ISGCQc Even the shirt was the same. Anyway, so everyone got out their cell phones again.

Then he went right into AAAAAAAAAAAALBUQUERQUE!

He introduced us to his guitarist who played Mary Had a Little Lamb reeeeeeeeeeally badly. Hence the face of disgust.

When he got to the doughnuts part, he named more doughnuts than I think Krispy Kreme ever dreamed of dreaming up, such as guacamole doughnuts and gooseberry doughnuts. He kept people laughing until he finally got to the bear claws (2,500 doughnuts later, it seemed).

Being attacked by his boxful of weasels:

All in all, a lovely evening, albeit noisy. Our seat was right in front of one of the speakers. We still have our hearing, though, so that is good. We spotted a few Al impersonators as well.

We headed home right afterwards. My bottle was unharmed.

Weird Al is my husbands favorite performer! He'll take the airplane to go to a show if Weird Al isn't making a stop in our city on a tour. I've never actually gone, but he sounds like an amazing guy to see live.

These are great photos!

Nice pics in spite of the angle. It's always a lovely evening when you spend it with Al.

And I am SO tempted to work up a recipe for those guacamole donuts. In sheer awfulness, they're right up there with the Twinkie Wiener Sandwich, and I KNOW people who eat those.

Jealousy ensues.

Amish Paradise, The Saga Begins, I'll Sue Ya, White and Nerdy, Fat....

I wish I was there. I so wish I was there. Next opportunity I have, I'm going to a Weird Al concert.
