  • 09:49:46: listening to Spot sing to the rain
  • 13:10:57: is perturbed that her dryer door keeps popping open while it's running.
  • 15:14:41: is not happy with Mr Postman for dropping 4 of her thank you cards in the wet outside, but happy that nice ladies found brought them to her.
  • 17:02:02: has learned that the USPS "can't" reimburse you for the postage on mail their carriers carelessly destroy by dropping in the wet street.
  • 20:32:47: is staring into space with eyeballs as glazed as a Krispy Kreme doughnut.
  • 22:04:53: Uhh... why is someone running a leaf blower at 9pm?

I'm not sure how much of this is actually hearable, but at first the conversation went something like this:

Woman #1: *hack cough hack*
Woman #2: That's like bronchitis. That's not just a regular cold. That sounds bad like bronchitis. Are you on antibiotics?
[various overlapping babble about bronchitis and antibiotics]

There was also a remark about somebody's spit being in someone else's whisky, "it" being all over Facebook (whatever "it" is - if only they knew how true that was) and now as I write this they're all laughing like hyenas.

Yes, this has been going on probably 4 hours now.

What peals of raucous guffaws, what elky noises, what YO YO YO, what immature non-conversation emanates from the neighbours' porch.

How can a group of people sit around for a full afternoon only making noises, spiced occasionally with a piece of sentence structure? Have they NOTHING better to do?

FURTHERMORE, do they realise that my WINDOW IS OPEN and I'm about to record their hullabaloo via a voice post for posterity?

Our power went out just as Dan and I were about to eat lunch. I said, "We'll know in about two minutes if the whole building is out, because Heather will come knock on the door."

Two minutes later, Heather knocked on the door.

I love the predictability of neighbours.

Apparently the whole town (and Sweet Home) were all out.

So we cleaned.

So the neighbour lady's husband definitely just thought our apartment was his and walked in.

Spot was thoroughly enjoying sitting in front of the neighbours' window with the Small Annoying Dog, rolling around and staring at Small Annoying Dog, who yapped and yapped through the window.

Much as I would encourage Spot to continue harassing Small Annoying Dog, *I* got sick of the yapping and brought Spot in for a while. He seriously was out for a couple hours and didn't want to come in yet.

I'm working on the Size 4 Boys' jacket I was intending to enter in PatternReview's vintage contest but I don't think I can have it done by the end of the day, unfortunately. I have the outer shell all assembled, lining still to do. We'll see, but I'm not thinking it will happen, and the pants to go with it definitely won't. I'm making it out of plaid flannel shirting. I think I already talked about this, but oh well. I call any jacket made of noisy plaid a Sperry & McGurk jacket... and my future son will have one ready and waiting for him. *cackle*

I am fascinated by the fact that our neighbours who just moved in appear to be moving out.

Also, I think Ruth and Mari need to see this. !! Personally, I'll take the wrap. Oh my. That seriously is the funniest thing I've seen today. I am tempted to pay the five bucks for the pattern.

And for a bonus, a hilarious blog post about Olan Mills pictures.

I am NOT sleeping well. This place gets noisier all the time. I'm waking up early every morning lately it seems because some intelligent person or other is making some sort of noise - sometimes it's a neighbour just talking and sometimes it's a vehicle. Like the Harley owner who revs up his motor (I accidentally typed mother first - so out of it am I) every morning at like 5 and tears out of here like he wants to wake the dead.

This morning I heard the Harley owner and someone dropping glass and the other wonderful person who, on a regular basis, screams out of here in his car. I'm suspecting he needs new tires on a weekly basis.

All in all, I can't wait to get out of this joint Complex of Luxury Homes. I am not rested. I am not awake. I want to crawl back into bed and wake up in a much more refreshed and charitable mood... but I can't. In one short hour we must leave for church.

I should go out at two AM sometime and start playing "Smells Like Nirvana" at full blast. I mean, we're leaving the place soon and all.

Speaking of Weird Al... two days to go.

I am devolving into a slug.

I spent about four hours in a state of iffy consciousness on the couch. I was very hot. I tried to lie still so as to be less hot. In so doing, I discovered that couches of leather-like substance are hardly conducive to making one less hot, no matter how still one lies.

When I got up it was two minutes to eight. I ate the other half of my subway sandwich and sampled my cookies. In an abbreviation... NSG.

I'm downing the last of the tropical fruits juice I made today (Banana Pineapple Strawberry, if I recall correctly. Dole brand.) Yummola.

Mai naybors sounds like kakling wiches. I can has pease and qwiet nau plz?

So. Tired. Those teenagers at 1.30 A.bsolute M.adness. Seriously. Such noisome pestilences, teenagers.

Hummm... Well, I've done some herb work today and started a batch of Mother's Applesauce Muffins only to realise The Endless Cache of Applesauce in our cupboard had at some point become the Non-Existent Cache of Applesauce. Thankfully I hadn't put anything wet in the batter yet. So I went to WinCo and picked up two vats of applesauce. For ze record, Seneca is the only brand that I found that has nothing extra in it, like sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup or other weird things. I also got some flour because we were clean out and some peaches so I can make frozen peach cream pie. And some cottage cheese, just because.

Came home and finished my muffins and prepared some steamed broccoli and a potato casserole for a husband who was on the hungry side. Did the dishes and now I am soporific. Yet, I do not care to have a repeat of last night's insomnia. Better not succumb to the urge to take a nap at this late hour.
