Dear Arlene:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet
And so are "you"

I'm glad to know you and I hope we see a lot of each other this year. Geraldine [somebody]

Dear Arlene,

Love is like a deck of cards.
When you're in love, its hearts
When you're engaged its diamonds
When you're married its clubs
And when you're dead its spades

Your friend
Amelia

[Just bizarre.]

Dear Arlene,
I love you little.
I love you mighty.
I like your pajamas
next to my nighty.
Now don't get excited
Now " " misled
for I mean on the clothe
line and not in Bed.

I will always remember you as a pretty blushing school girl.

Just Lyle Rudel

[My personal favourite. Seriously. ]

Spot is watching his daddy drill holes in a little wooden truck. It's so cute.

My ravioli came out a lot better this time. Two things I learned:

1. Roll the dough in from the edges on the cutter frame thingy, because then the filling does not squirt out all over the place.

2. None of the recipes really work for the pasta. Basically, I had to add way more oil and water than it called for. I used egg replacer instead of eggs. Next time, I'm not going to use a recipe and just wing it. But this batch of dough was nice and pliable.

So, I think it is not actually so difficult and would be almost just as easy to make it fresh as needed rather than doing a bunch ahead of time - at least, I think so, because to mix up and keep that much pasta dough soft for the length of time necessary would be a challenge. Still, it's nice to have a bag of it in the freezer for emoigencies.

Donna and Tom and Carol will be coming home tomorrow. They're at Joan's tonight and will be here around 3 - then T&C will stay here for the night before heading home, so they will be here for dinner. Not sure if Donna and Norm will stay for dinner although they are welcome to. I think I'll just do potato soup with carrots and green beans, cornbread, and maybe peach pie or some such.

I'm tired of waking up tired, thanks.

It's not like I'm not sleeping well, either, so I don't really get it. I've been sleeping longer at a time - as in I'm waking up at 4am to pee rather than 2 - so it would SEEM I should feel more rested, but not so much. Of course, it is harder to go back to sleep at 4 than 2.

Going to be a long day.

Oh, and because I keep forgetting, please pray for my grandma and Dan's. Dan's is not doing well at all, and mine last I heard is unconscious in the hospital.

EDIT: and this quote stolen from Ruth, because it's grand: "For myself, I long ago decided that I would rather know the truth than be happy in ignorance. If I cannot have both truth and happiness, give me truth. We'll have a long time to be happy in heaven." ~A.W. Tozer, Man: The Dwelling Place of God
