My Life

*Last night Spot stalked and pounced upon a creature I could not see whilst we were walking about the property. I finally saw the creature and forced him to release it. He was not happy with me.

*This morning I made pancake mix, transplanted my cosmos (again), checked on the bees twice, watered the garden, and am on load 2 of 3 of laundry.

*Later Dan wants me to help him with layer two of garden fence.

*I guess I need to come up with a lunch idea. It's eleven already. Wow.

*BUT IT IS A GOOD DAY.

Molly is on the floor. She was happily playing with her toys until I opened my LJ update window. Figures. I love my chubby little pumpkin.

Anyway, it has been a busy but very productive day. I have all my clients' stuff in paper bags now (so much tidier-looking than a pile of plastic grocery bags) and labelled by their names. It's in a neat stack in the corner. The floor was able to be cleared and vacuumed. YES. Of course, that means my computer table is piled high with odds and ends now, but that can be dealt with later. Most of it is probably pitchable.

And, I made two 13x9 pans of Chicken Garbanzo Divan: one for potluck tomorrow and one for us for Sunday or whenever. The kitchen is clean. The living room is mostly clean - Molly's toys are dumped out.

So, I feel accomplished and content, even though I know that in two days nobody will be able to tell it was ever this clean. I'll worry about that in two days.

Bible study is at Andrew and Kai's tonight. Apparently we are having pizza. Sounds yummy. I'm thinking of finding out if Frances and the kids want to come to our place after potluck tomorrow since Dr Paul won't be around to go door-to-door with Dan and maybe he can just go with Jim. We shall see.

Also, today I learned that the vacuum terrifies Molly. And she got some carrots mixed with rice cereal at lunch today because we had some. She seemed uncertain of the texture at first but in the end got probably a tablespoon or so down her.

Following some sage advice from a [livejournal.com profile] krikketgirl, this mother decided to go ahead and start transitioning M to her crib in the other room. First step: portable crib at foot of our bed. This way she's by neither of our heads (specifically mine), but still handy to fetch when nom time cometh. Going to try this for a few nights and see if it helps us (and her) sleep better.

She's continued to be pretty good today, though around lunch time she was kind of fussbudgety and needed a lot of attention. She finally did go to sleep though.

I've had a pretty productive day: did a load of sheets and towels, sorted out her next size of clothes and made them easily available for when we need them (she's already growing out of some of her first sleepers!), made eggplant curry for lunch, washed the dishes, put away the laundry, took the dining room chairs back downstairs, ironed the sheet/pillowcases, finished all my e-mails that I needed to send...

In other words, I've been busy. It has felt good to be busy and not be overwhelmed with fatigue.

Donna is going to come by at some point tomorrow to watch Molly so we can "do whatever". I'm sure Dan will be working; I've been wanting to draw a picture of M though and haven't had a chance, so I think I'll do that while she's here.

I'm really hot and standing by the sink washing dishes makes my back ache, so I'm sitting here taking a brief break. The cookies I'm making smell good. Hope they taste good. Considering my non-fannishness of honey and all... should be interesting.

Spot is out in the sunniness outside. Dan is fixing something on his car.

Hmm. The cookies are... very sticky. I think I messed up on the liquid proportions, perhaps. *sigh* Going to let them sit in the turned-off oven to dry out a bit before attempting to remove them from the tray.

At least I'm being semi-productive today.

Things I have to do today:

1. Make bread for an army*.
2. Make pepper steak for an army. (I'm so glad I made the steaks yesterday.)
3. Think of some desserty thing that's vegan. I'd serve my frozen cake but I'm not sure there's enough for an army. Could make a thing of brownies.
4. Tidy up downstairs.
5. Vacuum downstairs.
6. Take a bath.
7. Squeeze in a nap.
8. At some point go to the store to get the stuff to MAKE the pepper steak. That is, peppers and tomatoes.
9. Try not to have emotional meltdown.

Guess I better get busy. Tired just thinking about it all. Expect updates.

*13 people if everyone decides to show up tonight.

The last load of laundry is in the dryer. I had three loads today.

The grain is all ground. I did a massive grinding: soft white wheat, hard red wheat, and a bit of rye. So I shouldn't have to do it again for a while.

One loaf of bread is baked and a tray of buns is now baking.

I even have been folding the laundry as it comes out of the dryer and I vacuumed up my flour/grain grinding mess.

Oh, and I made granola.

I've been doing a lot of floor-sitting today, which I like to do and is comfy as long as I stay sitting, but getting up is a pain in the butt. Quite literally.

GooGoo hasn't moved much since early this morning. Naturally I'm panicking.

And I have heartburn. I'm going to blame the disgustingly addictive pound cake that Donna left here last night from the memorial. It's really not THAT good... yet I keep stuffing it in my face. I've had enough now though. When my loaf of rye bread cools down a bit more I'll have egg salad-leek-tomato sandwich and cottage cheese.

Today's Food )

What is left? Pears. Pears and more pears. I'm not sure I want to deal with pears, but somebody has to do it, and Dan is busy and already did more than his share of chores today and yesterday. I have such a nice husband.

Definitely going to see if I can make room in the fridge to put some of them in there and buy myself another day of procrastination. If I can get half of them done today, my conscience will be sufficiently eased. So glad it's not a hugemongous amount of pears. About 1/3 of a milk crate.

Okay, time to make and eat my lunch.

Today's Food )

Well, it was raining torrentially a little while ago and I decided to go out in it and gave Dan a guilt trip for not wanting to go with me. He said he would be down in a few minutes, and of course by the time he got downstairs it was barely raining at all anymore. Nice, Mr Baldwin. Thank you.

That aside, it has been a nice cool day and perfect for baking, so I made a loaf of bread that turned out just beautifully for once and now am trying one of [livejournal.com profile] eattheolives' cinnamon roll recipes. We'll see how they turn out. I put cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins, and chopped walnuts in for filling. I'm out of powdered sugar so I made some in the blender for glaze.

Dan, meantime, made blue corn tortilla things and is now grinding some more wheat because I used up the last of it in the rolls.
