Book 32: Prince Caspian. 186pp
Dan says he is glad we are not in a reading competition together. He seems to think it unfair that I'm already through P.C.
***
I'm really tired. I'm making potato soup for tomorrow.
I already made a pie. I tried an oil crust on request of Mr Baldwin. It was made of fail.
So I made a normal crust instead and baked him the oil crust on a cookie sheet to have with cinnamon and sugar or some such.
Donna is sick, so they're not coming tomorrow after all. Upside: I don't have to wait until then to cut into the pie. Still, though, it's too bad.
We'll probably go to church in Lebanon tomorrow because Andrew is preaching.
There's always so much to do. Why do I never seem to get it all done?

Date: 2009-03-28 01:15 am (UTC)I don't think oil crusts are very successful. If I remember right, they aren't as flaky as a regular crust.
I know what you mean about there always being so much to do. Lately it seems like I'm behind on everything.

Date: 2009-03-28 05:27 am (UTC)I did a little research (I'll post links later) and apparently there are some oil crust recipes that turn out flakey. One called for vinegar and several had milk. One used a combination of oil and shortening.
When I baked the failed oil pastry on the cookie sheet, it actually came out pretty nice in texture. It just wouldn't stay together between lifting off the counter and dropping into the pan. I noticed the recipe I was using had substantially less flour than the recipes I found online. That might be a factor too.
