On the baby name soapbox...

Top Girl Names of 2008
1. Isabella
2. Ava
3. Emily
4. Elizabeth
5. Abigail
6. Madison
7. Emma
8. Addison
9. Madeline
10. Olivia
Olivia is the only one I really like on that list, although Madeleine is lovely. And please, people, stop naming girls Madison. This is a crime against girlkind.
I rejoice that neither of the names we have picked for our girl are anywhere on the Top 50 for Girls this year. If we can just keep it that way, people, for a couple more years? Thanks.*
Top Boy Names of 2008
1. Aidan
2. Jayden
3. Jacob
4. Michael
5. Ethan
6. Caden
7. James
8. Caleb
9. Andrew
10. Matthew
I hate all of these except for 3, 4, and 7, which are good old standby Bible names. (Okay, 8-10 are Bible names too, but I've never liked them all that much.)
Our boy name is on the boy name list, but it's not much of a shocker because, oh, surprise, it's one of those good old standby names that's been in steady use for centuries! (And no, you can't know what it is yet.) Middle name is not on the list. Yay.
*If her middle name EVER makes a top 50 list, I'll officially go into shock.
