Here are some sermons from our, sadly, soon to be ex-pastor. They've really been thought-provoking to me, and I encourage you to have a listen to one or two. Or all, if you feel so moved. :-)
8 and 9 really made me think about my own life and how criticism and selective honesty have crept into my attitudes and how I deal with people. If you only choose two to listen to, I'd really recommend those.
1. Nailed to the Cross:
Were the Ten Commandments nailed to the cross?
2. How Soon Is Soon?:
What does Jesus mean when He says He is "coming soon"?
3. The Ten Virgins:
Lessons for our day from the parable
4. Closing Time:
Deals with the close of probation
5. A House of Prayer:
Reverence in worship and God's house
6. Bringing the Word to Life:
Why should we memorise Scripture?
7. Steve and the Chocolate Chips:
This one is the children's story, but it provides some background into the next sermon.
8. Amen, Amen!:
Practical, day-to-day honesty. Do we have it?
9. The Benefit of the Doubt:
Judging and criticism in our attitudes
10. What Is a Saint?:
Illustrations from the life of St Patrick give us light on what it really means to be a saint.
***
And, special music from various services:
By Trent and Aurora Snyder:
What Child Is This?
In Moments Like These
By Kyle Carter (he's 10, I think):
Less of Me
By Sharon Parmenter:
Be Still
By Dan Reed, Geraldine Genstler, and Veronica Last-Name-Unknown:
Finlandia
And this children's story, which cracked me up:
God's Very Special Gift
