• 09:59:18: off to make a loaf of rye bread and try not to think about the fact that she's already hungry again.
  
• 10:50:07: stopped thinking about being hungry as soon as she had peanut-butter-peach-jam toast with milk. Rye bread is now rising.

Book 65: Bertie Wooster Sees It Through, PG Wodehouse. 240pp

Entertaining, to be sure. Like I said the other day, my frame of mind has been hardly conducive to concentration on a lot of things... which dulled slightly the enjoyment, unfortunately, but that is not to say I'll never read another Wodehouse, because I'm sure I will.

I'm so impressed with his ability to take a complex plot as intensely tangled up as linguine on a merry-go-round and actually make it all conclude in a sensible and satisfactory manner.

Well, I made a dozen muffins. I used my blueberry muffin recipe but did blackberries instead. One dozen is exactly enough for everyone to have ONE. Unless Lois doesn't show up, in which case there will be a lonely muffin.

So I'm also making cookies from my mason jar mix for Gingerbread Drop Cookies, and would like everyone to know that if you freeze cookie mix, letting it thaw before trying to mix it up is a good idea, because brown sugar layers become Somewhat Rocklike in the freezer.

Just took some out and let them cool a minute and they are quite good. Not super-sweet. Raisins would be yummy in them... oh well. Too late for that now, but next time I will do that.

Every once in a while I pull out my wedding ring from my dresser drawer* to see if my fingers have gotten any fatter.

They haven't.

This makes me happy.

*It's not as bad as it sounds, really.
